Dear Demo Riders,
The Utah Horse Council would like to clarify some changes that we felt were needed
for this and future Expos regarding the attending horses.
Our legal advisor has told us that for liability reasons, we cannot condone the sale of
horses through our venue. The Expo was not designed to be a sale or auction venue.
The terms of our insurance and charter only protect us within the Expo showing,
demonstration, and visitors framework. We have, therefore, implemented the
following rules regarding horses attending the Expo.
- No horse can be advertised as being “For Sale” at the Expo
2. The Horse Council is restricting the stalls to ONLY demo horses
(these horses must be a part of the Breed Parade demonstrations
or the Stallion Preview);
- ALL horses must have a current Health Certificate and Coggins upon check-in .
This requirement also pertains to In-state horses. We find this measure
necessary because of the Stallions that will be attending and on display as well
as recent issues related to the spread of Vesticular Stomititis and Equine
Infectious Anemia. If, for financial reasons or otherwise, you are unable to comply
with the Coggins portion of this requirement, please contact us BEFORE
attending the Expo and we can make arrangements for testing with our vet.
- These restrictions do not apply to trailer-tied day demonstrators.
- Dr. Tanya Bartlett makes routine visits to
So. Jordan Equestrian Park - She will be there on March 4.
Spanish Fork Fairgrounds - 4th Tues. of each month.
Please contact her for an appt. : 801 710-6138
We hope you understand that the Utah Horse Council is being a responsible
organization by taking these protective measures. We have some very expensive
horses attending the Expo and we would like everyone to feel as though they can
safely display their wonderful breeds at our venue.
The Utah Horse Council reserves the right to restrict any equine activities depending upon the current equine quarantine situations.
