The 1 st Annual Utah Horse Judges' Training and Certification Program was held on April 8-9, 2005 in Woods Cross, Utah . This two day clinic provided 4-H and Open Horse Show Judges with an opportunity to improve their judging skills. A panel of officials representing their respective breeds and events demonstrated judging techniques using visuals and live demonstrations. Participants judged and placed 22 classes in a simulated Open Horse Show setting. The classes represented a variety of breeds, events and riding styles. Each judge's placings were tabulated and ranked by division using the George A. Hormel and Co. Scoring System.

Individuals listed in this publication attended the 2005 Utah Horse Judges Training and Certification Program and indicated that they would be available to judge horse shows. The area of expertise (denoted by an “X” under the division section) indicated the judges' preference in judging assignments and is not necessarily representative of their clinic performance. Judges receiving an (*) asterisk in their judging preference area indicates they scored 90% or better in that respective division (a minimum of the top one-third certified in each division).

CERTIFICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE EXPERTISE IN JUDGING AN ACTUAL SHOW. WHEN APPROPRIATE, SHOW MANAGEMENT IS ENCOURAGED TO REQUEST REFERENCES TO CLARIFY JUDGING ABILITY, SIZE AND NUMBER OF SHOWS JUDGED, PERSONAL APPEARANCE AND ATTIRE WHILE JUDGING, ETC.
